Emmanuel Ochora

Emmanuel Ochora is co-founder of the Gulu Youth for Action (GYFA) in Uganda, a youth-led non-governmental organization which aims to increase awareness and communication about reproductive health problems and gender-based violence, as well as to support girls’ education.

GYFA works with internally-displaced adolescents in the district of Gulu in northern Uganda. Using a rights-based approach, GYFA collaborates with local health, education and human rights bodies and government officials and NGOs, and involves youth through education, meetings and discussions, radio presentations, and drama.

Mr. Ochora coordinates the implementation of HIV/AIDS programmes with a focus on gender equality, particularly for young people. He has been a guest speaker at several conferences and events, and participated in a United Nations Expert Group Meeting on “The Role of Men and Boys in Achieving Gender Equality”.
