There is one universal truth, applicable to all countries, cultures and communities: violence against women is never acceptable, never excusable, never tolerable.

UNiTE Worldwide

UNiTE in Africa

In January 2010, the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, and the Chairperson of the African Union, Jean Ping, launched Africa UNiTE in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia during the African Union Heads of State and Government Summit.

Since then, Africa UNiTE has held national and sub-regional launches, and regional and sub-regional level consultations involving national policy makers and major media outlets, among others.

The ultimate goal of Africa UNiTE is to mobilize and support governments in fulfilling their commitments to end violence against women and girls.
